This free printable
Print out the fortune teller template and trim off the excess paper, leaving you with a square. Fold the paper in half, point to point. Crease it then open it up again and repeat with the other two points.
Turn the printable over so that the design side is facing down. Using the creases to help guide you, fold each point into the center.
Turn the folded paper upside down and repeat the process of folding each point up into the center.
Turn the paper over again and fold it in half and crease it. Open it up and fold it in half the other way, creasing it again.
Insert your thumb and index finger into two of the square pockets, and do the same thing with your other thumb and index finger.
To operate the cootie catcher, open and close in both directions using your fingers. Opening the catcher in one direction will display the letters “LUCK” and in the other direction will display the colors blue, green, yellow and red.
How to Play:
Pick a number from 1-4 (fortune teller opens and closes catcher that many times)
Choose either a color or a letter, depending on where the catcher ended up (fortune teller opens and closes catcher by spelling the color or spelling the word luck up until they reach your letter).
Select which section you would like read to you.

Today's pom pom rainbow project was worth every minute (or about 2 hours if you can spare it!)
But as we wait, today's pom pom rainbow project was worth every minute (or about 2 hours if you can spare it!) I love the way it turned out, and it's also a piece that can hang up well beyond springtime and then some!
TOOLS & MATERIALS:
1 5/8" & 1 3/8" pom pom makers OR colourful pom poms
Yarn in six colours: Pink, yellow, green, blue, purple and white
Embroidery scissors
Cardboard piece (approx. 11" x 7.5")
Hot glue gun with extra sticks
Heavy duty scissors
DIRECTIONS:
Make all the pom poms first according to the instructions (this part takes the longest). Use the smaller of the two pom pom makers to create poms in the rainbow colours: 9 pink, 7 yellow, 5 green, 3 blue, and 1 purple. Use the larger maker to make 6 white poms to form the clouds. Note: you can increase the overall size of the rainbow by using larger pom pom makers. Then give yourself more time.
Glue the pom poms to the cardboard piece, starting with the purple pom pom in the centre and working your way out. Do this by adding the glue to the cardboard rather than the pom pom. Squish them tightly together so that there's no gaps between the poms. After all the poms are secured in the pattern shown, use scissors strong enough to cut through cardboard to cut around the poms and create the shape of the rainbow.
It's light enough and holds well, which is perfect for temporary locations.

To make this St. Patrick’s Day craft you’ll need:
Markers
clover template
a thin paper plate
cotton balls
green construction paper
yarn or string
glue
Cut your paper plate in half.
Paint arches to make a rainbow on half of the plate.
Cut out the center of the arch that did not get painted.
Cut four pieces of yarn in varying lengths and glue them to the back of the plate. If you want faster drying time, I suggest using a glue stick or even some tape.
Cut a bunch of clovers out of green construction paper using the template provided. You can either do this ahead of time or have the kids do it. Fold the paper like an accordion to cut more at a time.
Glue the clovers on the string using a glue stick. Use two clovers for each one and sandwich the yarn in between.
Pull apart two cotton balls and glue one to each end of the rainbow to make clouds.
That’s it! Such a great St. Patrick’s Day craft for the kids.
Tape them up on the sliding glass door - they look so pretty!

Gather your supplies and set out your confetti, sequins, and glitter!
Make a buffet of fun mix-ins! Usually we mix in these things as we go along, but this time we set it up to do at the end instead.
Grab some plastic containers and friends and make slime for everyone to take home.
YOU WILL NEED:
Clear Washable PVA School Glue {3 bottles, one for each color}
1.5 Ounce Bottles of Glitter Glue {this is optional and the slime can be made without it, but we love it!}
Water
Liquid Starch
Food Coloring
Glitter
Sequins
Heart Confetti
HOW TO MAKE VALENTINES DAY SLIME
STEP 1. Empty a small {around 1.5 ounce} bottle of cheap glitter glue into a 1/2 cup measure. Fill the remaining space in the measuring cup with the clear glue for a total of a 1/2 cup of glue.
If you don’t have the glitter glue, just use a full 1/2 cup of clear glue. Empty into a bowl.
STEP 2. Add 1/2 cup of water to the glue and mix well.
STEP 3. Color with food coloring for a deep shade of red, purple, or pink.
You can add more glitter now if you want too.
STEP 4. Measure and add 1/2 cup of liquid starch to your mixture and stir.
The slime will begin to form immediately. Once you have mixed as much as you can, remove your slime and knead until smooth.
STEP 5. Set your slime on trays and toss confetti, glitter, and sequins all over it! Have fun mixing it all up and playing!
Make several batches and swirl them all together.
Super stretchy and super fun! Once you learn how to make Valentines Day slime, you won’t be able to stop. It’s easy to make homemade slime, and even easier to dress it up with fun holiday and seasonal themes.

Here’s a DIY glitter party hats for the holidays! With tinsel too! Oooh… sparkly!
To Make:
Cover your paper mache cone with an even coating of Mod Podge. Work quickly, you don’t want any of it to dry.
Immediately cover in glitter. As you can see my glitter method is very scientific, consisting of dumping almost the entire container of glitter on my hat. Shake off excess. Be sure to put down a piece of wax paper before you do this so you can easily funnel your leftover glitter back into it’s jar. Let dry completely.
Once dry, it’s time to seal your glitter so you aren’t covered in it every time you wear the hat! Paint another layer of Mod Podge right over your glitter. Let dry completely. It will turn clear, promise!
NOTE! If you aren’t using a headband, see below before doing this step. Cut a piece of tinsel the same length as the circumference of your hat.Carefully use hot glue to attach it to the bottom of your hat. Then cut a small piece of tinsel and hot glue it to the top of your hat.
If you’re using a headband, you can get fancy or keep it simple. Just glue it with two dots of hot glue onto the edge of the hat. Hold in place until it sets. If you want to cover up the inside you can glue a circle of cardstock to the bottom of the hat, then sandwich the headband between that and another circle of cardstock. If you’re forgoing the headband all together, use an awl to poke two holes in your hat and slip a ribbon or elastic through. Secure with a knot and then cover with tinsel as outlined above.
Put your hat on and get your jingle on!

By now, most (if not all of us) love a good photo booth – it’s basically a staple at parties, whether for birthdays or the holidays. Today I’ll be showing you an easy way to DIY some fun free printable photo booth props for your New Years Eve party so you can ring in the new year with style!
Supplies needed to make your own free printable photo booth props:
Chipboard
Cardstock
Glitter Paper
Glitter
Matte Mod Podge
1/4″ Dowels
Electronic Die Cutter (optional)
Scissors or X-acto Knife
Glue
Hot Glue Gun
Printable Photo Props Template (for personal use only)
Step 1. Cut out the free printable photo booth props template provided – of course, you can definitely do this without an electronic die cutter, but it just makes things much easier for crafting! I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out my shapes – don’t forget to resize them first before cutting. Cut one piece of each element on chipboard or cardboard, and two pieces (front and back) on cardstock.
Step 2. Assemble your shapes by matching the correct sides and gluing them down – I find it easiest to use a sponge dauber to apply my glue (as it takes out the excess glue) and letting it dry between two pieces of parchment or wax paper with something heavy on top (to flatten it). This process makes your free printable photo booth props sturdy and creates a professional look – you’ll be able to use it on more than just one party!
Step 3. Once dry, you have the option of making it more interesting by adding embellishment such as gems, or even glittering the photo prop. I used Matte mod podge evenly on the surface of my “Cheers” prop and then sprinkled a good amount of glitter on top. Once dry, tap the excess glitter and coat with a spray sealer (optional).
Step 4. Once you are done embellishing your free printable photo booth props, attach your dowel using a dab of hot glue and attaching it to the back of the chipboard prop.
And you are done! Create simple party photo props, or make them unique by embellishing them with an assortment of gems, feathers and stick-ons.
Hope you are enjoying your holiday season and don’t forget to craft up a quick DIY New Year banner too!

Learn how to make snowflakes out of paper so that you can decorate your house and have a snow day this Winter! Just fold pieces of paper, use scissors to cut out shapes, and see what designs you can make! What other arts and crafts and fun DIY projects do you want Crafty Carol to teach?
SUPPLIES NEEDED
Paper (preferably thin or lightweight paper)
Scissors
Protractor (optional)
STEPS
1. Make a paper square.
Start out with a square piece of paper, preferably thin or lightweight paper. You can use square origami paper or follow these easy steps for making a square from any rectangular piece of paper.
2. Fold diagonally in half.
Fold the square diagonally in half to come up with a triangle.
3. Fold in half.
Fold the resulting triangle in half to make a smaller triangle.
4. Divide the triangle into 3 sections.
The most crucial and perhaps the trickiest step in making a paper snowflake is dividing the triangle into three equal sections. The most accurate way to do this is to use a protractor to divide the angle at the triangle's apex (the corner opposite the longest side) into three sections, each with a 30-degree angle. If you don't have a protractor, you can estimate the size of the sections as you do Steps 5 and 6.
5. Fold the left section.
Once you've marked out the three equal sections, fold the left section towards the front.
6. Fold the right section.
Similarly fold the right section towards the front.
7. Flip the shape.
Flip the shape over so that the side with the horizontal edge is facing front.
8. Cut along the horizontal edge.
Cut along the horizontal edge so that you end up with a wedge.
9. Cut random shapes.
While keeping the wedge folded, cut out random shapes out of the edges.
If you're looking for printable ready-to-cut snowflake patterns, you can find them here.
10. Unfold the paper.
Carefully unfold the paper to reveal your paper snowflake. Like real snowflakes, your paper snowflake has a 6-point or six-sided symmetry.
11. Make more snowflakes.
In nature, no two snowflakes are exactly the same. Try making different shape cut-outs in Step 9 to come up with your own unique snowflakes.

Chores. What’s not to love? In case you have one of those rare kids who isn’t quite fond of helping out around, the holidays are a great time to remind us all to cultivate a generous, selfless spirit. Whether it’s making the bed or putting the dishes away, show your kids how important it is to help out their parents during what can be a stressful season! And hey, if that doesn’t work? Give them a small incentive or find a way to make it fun!
--------

Did you know that the modern Christmas tree tradition is believed to have begun in 16th century Germany? Small evergreen trees were decorated with candles, apples, nuts, and berries by devout Christians. It took awhile for the Christmas trees to be widely accepted in America, but by the 1890s their popularity was on the rise, with Americans preferring large floor-to-ceiling trees while Europeans tended to have ones that were about 4 feet tall.
For our next activity, we’re approaching Christmas trees a bit differently, with links that’ll show kids how to make little trees out of Lego, paper, and more!
----------
