Details:
Variations

- Switch up your crackers for a fun variation
- Use Different Sprinkles for Various Holidays
- Add Valentine’s Day M&M’s
How to Make Valentine’s Toffee
- Prep – Preheat oven. Optional: Line cookie sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
- Layer 1 – Line cookie sheet with saltine crackers.
- Layer 2 – In a saucepan on medium, combine butter and brown sugar to create the amazing buttery toffee. Bring mixture to a boil stirring continuously 3-5 minutes. When it comes to a boil, slowly pour mixture over crackers and spread with a spatula. It doesn’t have to be perfect! Bake 5 minutes. This helps the toffee achieve the right consistency.
- Layer 3 – Remove from oven and cover with chocolate chips. Allow them to melt and spread to cover.
- Layer 4 – SPRINKLES! Cover toffee with sprinkles immediately.
- Allow to Set and Break Into Small or Medium Pieces
Tips
- Line Baking Sheet – Use parchment, foil or a silicone liner for easy cleanup. Make sure it extends past your crackers because the mixture will spread.
- High Altitude – You may need to increase boil time.
- Be Careful – Toffee mixture is piping hot.
- Decorate Quickly – Chocolate doesn’t take long to set.
- Refrigerate or Freeze to Set – While unnecessary, it speeds up the process.
How to Store
- Room Temperature – this saltine toffee can be stored for up to 2 weeks at room temperature, in an airtight container.
- Refrigerate – Store in an airtight container refrigerated up to 2 weeks.
Dietary Considerations
- Gluten Free – Simply swap with gluten free crackers.
