A visit to the Pickering Museum Village will be different to keep our visitors and staff safe. We will be open only for pre-booked programs and tours, at this time there are no drop-in visits.

As Ontario Reopens, we've adapted to provide our programs to meet COVID guidelines. Here is what we are doing:

Step 1 ~ We are offering Drive Thru Tours in June. Starting July 2, we will be offering in-person, small group pre-registered programs, modified to take place outdoors.

Step 2 ~ We will continue to modify our programs to be outdoors in small groups.

Step 3 ~ We will move back to indoor programs, pending guidelines provided by the government.

BOUNTY OF THE HARVEST

Feel the soil between your fingers as you harvest and prepare fresh produce and herbs from our orchards and gardens for your food, decor, and cosmetic use. This program includes a mini garden tour, hands-on harvesting*, a recipe, and a prep session to get you started. Recipes are a blend of heritage and modern. (*Note: Harvesting from the gardens is dependent on seed and plant availability, the planting and growing season, and the abundance in the gardens.)

BARN AND BUTTER

Turn cream into butter in this fun program all about the farm. Make your own batch of butter that you can taste on a scone or take home to taste. At the end of the program, you can explore the museum's brand new interactive barn exhibit. Milk a replica cow, learn about crops, and groom a display horse.

THE ANNE EXPERIENCE

Explore the world of Anne of Green Gables in a behind-the-camera tour of Pickering Museum Village, the set of various 'Anne' productions for almost forty years. Enjoy a picnic lunch, while learning about how the village was transformed into Anne's world. Take an audio tour with Anne to remember some of her favourite memories from the book. Visit the historic houses and learn about Lucy Maud Montgomery and historic fashions from Anne's time. Enjoy a scone and create your own tea blend as you bring the past to life in this fun experience.
