Level 2 Virtual STEM Summer Camp in Coding and 3D Modeling

Level 2 Virtual STEM Summer Camp in Coding and 3D Modeling

STEM

This Virtual career-focused STEM program introduces students to essential 21st century skills needed for tomorrow’s careers.

For students with some experience in coding and 3D modeling, this Level 2 virtual camp is designed to further develop your skills!

Coding is becoming a major skill needed in any field and 3D printing, or additive manufacturing is the newest technology used in the development of almost all products across all industries. These two skills are the foundation of STEM careers for the next generation. This course is designed to inspire your child to pursue STEM academics and is their first step toward a future STEM career in design or engineering.

Makecode Mindstorm is the chosen platform for this coding course, which supports a progression path into real-world programming. Students will learn how to control motors and sensors to complete specific challenges. Students will demonstrate their learning by maneuvering a robot remotely using their own code.

In this 3D modeling course, we introduce students to the foundations of more complex CAD skills like assemblies, weldments, and sheet metal using a professional software platform called Onshape. Additional engineering design capabilities will be covered that will allow students to tap their creativity even further to keep the fun and inspirational moments flowing.

Level 2 Camp Schedule

About the organizers

Enhancing STEM education in the local community has long been one of the key objectives for Carolinas Aviation Museum (CAM) and Queen City Robotics Alliance (QCRA). Sharing this common vision, CAM and QCRA believe that together we will create an even bigger impact with our synergy by empowering students to be prepared for the future of work in technology, engineering, aviation, and aerospace careers.

This STEM camp is sponsored by Culture Blocks— a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County.
