Join Sarah, Mary and Nivaaz for a special #TDKTuesdays collaboration to explore how students can create and present the perfect pitch

This session will be recorded. Register to receive an email link after the event to access the recording. Please check your spam folder as your confirmation email may be hiding.

Pitching and presenting is a big part of a design degree and can also be a big part of your creative career. Having the opportunity to present your ideas is a wonderful thing but sometimes we can let the fear consume us of making it absolutely perfect. The Design Kids and Canva Space have sourced some local confidence and pitching wizards who are keen to share their wisdom in this one hour webinar on how we can avoid overthinking these situations into a nerve-wracking (or maybe even terrifying) experience and instead feel empowered and ready for all eyes to be on us.

Learning outcomes:

  • What makes a great pitch deck
  • How to structure a pitch
  • How to create a pitch deck in Canva
  • Tips for addressing nerves and presenting with confidence

This webinar is suitable for: Everyone who is new to Canva, no prior experience necessary.

Includes: Live access to webinar and participation in live Q&A session at the end of the session.

Time: 20 July 6:00PM -7:00PM AEST (Sydney, Australia)

Hosted by:

Sarah Bracken, City Host, Sydney - The Design Kids

Sarah Bracken volunteers as a city host for The Design Kids Sydney in-between her day job as a graphic designer and web developer. She loves being endlessly inspired by all of the talented folk who attend the monthly #TDKtuesday events. Her keen interest in neuroscience has lead to a side passion for brand strategy and artificial intelligence. She has learnt from indulging in an embarrassing amount of self-help literature that the most enduring source of happiness in life is found in giving back and so to maintain a level of sanity, spends her spare time volunteering for the Sea Shepherd, local animal sanctuaries and social enterprises.

Presented by:

Mary Hoang - Founder of The Indigo Project

Over the last 13 years as a psychologist, Mary's mission has been to help people see the extraordinary within themselves. She started her career as a psychologist working with street kids for the Salvation Army and found that employing creative means such as music and art in her workshops, and using down-to-earth language, transformed the way the kids viewed mental health services and opened up the channels of communication. She founded The Indigo Project, a phycological practice based in Surry Hills, defined by same ethos of thinking creatively about mental health and offering creative ways for people to learn about their minds and be part of a community. Now with over 30 practitioners, The Indigo Project has worked with Facebook, Spotify, Westpac, City of Sydney, Airbnb, Vivid, Art Gallery of NSW and many other incredible organisations who are looking for a creative approach to helping people unlock their minds and their full potential.

Nivaaz Sehmbhi - Growth Engineer at Eucalyptus

Nivaaz is an electrical engineer turned self taught software engineer with a strong love for entrepreneurship which led her to start her own online product to automate work in the engineering space. Alongside this she worked in a range of industries and startups helping them with marketing, pitch decks and design. Most recently she landed herself a spot in the Antler program (a startup incubator) and from there freelanced for a range of startups polishing pitches, working on product design and marketing. She also interned at Canva and has been a hardcode Canva-lover since the company began!

Nivaaz has been pitching herself, her projects, ideas and startups since high school and is incredibly excited to share all her insights with her favorite tool Canva!
